Sandwell College has some great opportunities to help launch careers! The College has just announced more than 60 new apprenticeships for young people which are open now – offering exciting opportunities across a diverse range of sectors including automotive, engineering and construction.
If it’s time for you to look ahead and plan for your future, apprenticeships can offer a brilliant first step. They give young people the chance to work (literally) towards a nationally recognised qualification.
For those looking for the first step to their future career, it’s a win-win situation – allowing learners to gain professional qualifications and earn while they learn, whilst also getting vital on-the-ground work experience helping them to develop their skills.
Sandwell College is an award-winning apprenticeship provider in the Midlands, training apprentices across a range of sectors each year and working with more than 1000 employers – with achievement rates at the College far in advance of the national average.
The College works with leading brands and major organisations including the NHS, Sandwell Council, Jaguar Land Rover, Halfords, Tesco, West Mercia Police, Wilmott Dixon and DPD – allowing students to gain crucial real-life work experience with some of the biggest employers in the UK, learn vital industry skills and ensure their CV stands out from the crowd.
Rafal, Level 3 engineering apprentice at Sandwell College says: “I enjoy a more practical way of study which my apprenticeship has given me.
“Generally, the main advantage of engineering is the mixture of electronic and mechanical, so the apprenticeship gives me multi-engineering skills. One day I will be assisting in the workshop with mechanical parts and another day I will be in electronics with circuits.
“The best thing about the apprenticeship is there is no monotony in it. Every day there is something different and engaging.”
Sebastian, Level 2 construction apprentice at Sandwell College says: “Everyone is so supportive and will give you help if you need it. I’ve definitely learnt a lot more being at college and in the workplace rather than just being at work.
“I think doing the course is good on its own but when you’re actually at work putting it into play as well, you’re learning what it’s like in the real world.”
