The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Esports has been designed to be studied over 2-years to provide students with the opportunity to develop a broader knowledge base and technical transferable skills in the exciting and rapidly growing esports industry.   This diploma is designed for individuals who have a passion for gaming and want to turn their hobby into a career.

Course requirements

LEVEL 3 – You should have a minimum of four GCSE’s at Grade 4/C or above.

The course will involve an opportunity to develop sector-specific knowledge, technical and practical skills through hands-on projects and assignments related to esports.

 

The esports topics include:

 

-             Game design

-             Tournament organisation

-             Streaming and content creation

-             Marketing and promotion

-             Business

 

The Esports course is taught within a designated room with specialist equipment to promote the best experience in this field.

 

The designated environment includes:

 

-             High specification computers

-             High end graphics cards

-             24” gaming performance monitors

-             Gaming chairs

-             Air-conditioning

 

This course provides students with the opportunity to participate in live Esports events and competitions, as well as valuable networking opportunities and the chance to meet and learn from industry professionals.

The course will combine mix of theoretical and practical learning and include written coursework, presentations, and video assessments. There are no examinations for this course.

Once you gain your BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Esports qualification, the esports industry offers a variety of job opportunities, including:

  • Esports Player: professional esports players compete in organised tournaments and events for prizes and recognition.
  • Coach: esports coaches work with players to help them improve their performance and strategy.
  • Shoutcaster: shoutcasters provide live commentary and analysis of esports tournaments and events.
  • Tournament Analyst: tournament analysts use data and statistics to analyse player and team performance, and provide insights and strategies for improvement.
  • Marketing and Sponsorship Manager: this role is responsible for securing sponsorships and developing marketing strategies for esports teams, tournaments, and events.
  • Event Manager: event managers plan and execute esports tournaments, including securing venues, managing schedules, and overseeing logistics.
  • Content Creator: content creators produce and distribute content such as articles, videos, and social media posts, to promote and cover the esports industry.
  • IT and Technical Support: this role involves setting up and maintaining the technology and equipment used in esports tournaments and events, including gaming platforms, hardware, and software.
  • Game Developer: game developers create the games that are played in the esports industry, and continuously work to improve and update them.
