This is the starting qualification you should choose if you aspire to become a qualified electrician in the domestic, commercial or industrial sector and do not already have an electrical apprenticeship or employment in the electrical industry. It can give you a head start on a four-year apprenticeship.
You'll need to complete an initial assessment and have a minimum Grade 4/C in GCSE Maths and English.
You will study health and safety, principles of electrical science, wiring systems and electrical installation technology. Around 60% of the course is practical with 40% knowledge based.
You will complete practical assessments and external online exams.
This Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Manufacturing Technology – Electrical Pathway can lead you into employment as an electrical improver and to the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation (Buildings and Structures) qualification.
