This Level 4 NCFE Diploma in Adult Care qualification is aimed at learners aged 19+, and will support the development of staff in a number of job roles in the adult care sector. It will support learners to develop specialist knowledge and skills in their area of responsibility and enable learners to promote a values-based culture within their setting.

To apply for this Level 4 NCFE Diploma in Adult Care qualification, you will need:

  • Level 3 qualification in the health and/or social care sector
  • Working in a care environment, voluntary or paid employment
  • Math and English Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent
  • Senior care level experience or qualification

You will undertake an initial assessment before enrolling on the course to ensure you have the necessary background knowledge, understanding and skills to undertake the learning and assessment at Level 4. There is an element of self-study and research which is mandatory.

The qualification contains both mandatory and optional units allowing you to tailor the qualification to meet your needs, interests, preferred progression paths and the context of your job role.

The Level 4 NCFE Diploma in Adult Care qualification will be assessed using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task.

Placement requirements:

  • Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as they will need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
  • The learner must achieve a minimum of 70 credits to achieve the Diploma: 36 credits from the mandatory units, and a minimum of 34 credits from the optional units.
  • At least 55 credits must be achieved at Level 4 or above.

The Level 4 NCFE Diploma in Adult Care qualification could lead to progression to the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services Adult Pathway qualifications.

The qualification will enable learners to progress into employment in settings such as residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres, an individual’s own home or some clinical healthcare settings.
