We offer a structured training programme for those in employment who want to learn and we work with employers to recruit apprentices seeking an Apprenticeship placement in the automotive sector.

This apprenticeship works in the vehicle body repair sector of the automotive industry. MET technicians are experts in identifying damaged mechanical and electrical parts on vehicles.

The minimum entry requirements for this Level 3 Vehicle Damage Mechanical, Electrical & Trim (MET) Technician Apprenticeship are as follows:

  • English GCSE Grade 4/C, Level 2 Functional Skills (or equivalent)
  • Mathematics GCSE Grade 4/C, Level 2 Functional Skills (or equivalent)
  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • You must also attend a formal interview

As part of this Level 3 Vehicle Damage MET Technician Apprenticeship you will learn and be able to demonstrate:

  • Foundation skills
  • Vehicle trim and panel components
  • Mechanical components
  • Starting and charging systems
  • Steering and suspension
  • Transmission and driveline
  • Braking systems
  • Advanced steering and suspension
  • Working safely with electric/hybrid vehicles
  • Advanced driver-assistance systems
  • Air conditioning

On successful completion of this Automotive Apprenticeship with Sandwell College, you could progress onto:
