The Level 2 IT Development Diploma for IT Users course is a one-year programme designed for learners to develop their experience and underpinning knowledge in a variety of Computing areas. It is equivalent to four GCSEs at Grade 9 – 4/A*- C.

You’ll need four GCSEs at Grade 4/D or above, including English or Maths, or an appropriate Level 1 qualification and an appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy.

This Level 2 IT Development Diploma for IT Users qualification offers you a range of multidisciplinary units covering not only the core topic of IT but also business and admin. The course meets local IT employer demands.

You will study a variety of 11 units and complete projects and exams.

The units offered are:

  • Improving Productivity Using IT
  • Set Up an IT System
  • Website Software
  • IT User Fundamentals
  • Optimise IT System Performance
  • IT Security for Users
  • Using Mobile IT Devices
  • Video Software
  • Using the Internet
  • Spreadsheet Software

Computing students get involved in a range of varied activities as part of their course, from organising gameathons to creating and editing their own magazine. The course offers trips to Disneyland Paris, residential trips to London as well as amusement parks. Successful learners are also recognised for their hard work at a special departmental award ceremony at the end of the year.

Projects and exams are based on real life work situations using a variety of software and transferable skills that you would then be able to apply in future employment. Grades for each unit are awarded according to a grading scale of Fail, Pass, Credit/Merit and Distinction.

This Level 2 IT Development Diploma for IT Users course offers a clear progression route to a Level 3 course in Computing or to an Apprenticeship.
