Do you love the idea of working in hotels, restaurants, airports, or even on a cruise ship? Our Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism is the perfect first step into this exciting industry. This course is designed to build your confidence, teamwork, and customer service skills, while giving you hands-on experience in what it takes to succeed.
You’ll need GCSE English and Maths at Grade 1 or Functional Skills English and Maths at Entry Level 3. You also need to show enthusiasm for the course and be motivated to take part in activities.
You’ll develop essential customer service and teamwork skills, learning how to create unforgettable experiences for guests and customers. Hospitality is all about delivering excellence,so you’ll build confidence in communication, problem-solving, and working under pressure which are key skills that top employers look for.
You’ll take part in real-world hospitality and tourism activities, learning about food service, front-of-house operations, event planning, and travel coordination. You’ll also gain an understanding of health, safety, and hygiene standards, ensuring you’re prepared for the professional world.
During the year-long study programme, you will complete 30 hours of work experience, linked to your main qualification, which will further develop your skills and allow you to put the theory you have learned into practice.
All learners on our Travel, Aviation and Hospitality courses are required to purchase and wear our travel uniform. Full details are given during enrolment.
Learners have the opportunity to participate in study visits to local attractions and employers.
Most trips are subsidised by the college. Recent outings include Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and the Black Country Living Museum.
On our Travel & Tourism course, you’ll be assessed through coursework and hands-on activities that mirror real-life roles in the travel, aviation, and hospitality industries.
You can progress onto our NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Travel & Tourism, where you’ll develop even more skills, gain industry knowledge, and open doors to a world of career opportunities.
Some students go straight into apprenticeships or entry-level roles in hotels, airlines, travel agencies, and event planning, while others continue their education at university in Tourism Management, Aviation, Hospitality, or International Travel.
