We have ESOL courses to suit everyone who wants to learn English or improve their English. We prepare learners to progress into employment, further study, citizenship and to get more out of life in the UK.

You will do an assessment to find out your current level of English for speaking, listening, reading and writing. This tells us the areas you need to develop.

The ESOL courses for adults are part-time. Daytime classes are 8 hours per week and include an element of Maths. Evening classes are 4.5 hours and you will need to attend both Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

All of our ESOL courses for adults will help you to improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, together with language around maths. These courses will help you to gain employment or progress to further and higher education courses. Your teachers will help you to study independently and to practise your new English skills.

As your English gets better, you can also do:

  • Citizenship
  • Employability / Work Skills
  • Work Experience
  • Mathematics
  • ICT (Computer Skills)
  • Personal and Social Development (PSD)
  • Science (optional)
  • Art (optional)
Please get in touch for more information.

You will be continually assessed by your teacher throughout the Adult ESOL programme. When you are ready, you can take the University of Cambridge ESOL exams in the college provision or Edexcel ESOL exams in community venues, gaining nationally recognised qualifications. You will also be given the opportunity to gain Functional Skills Mathematics.

We offer courses at Entry Level 1, 2 and 3, followed by Level 1. Whether you want to look for work, play an active part in your community or go on to study another course, we will do our best to equip you with what you need to succeed. Successful students move on to employment or to one of the College’s vocational courses, or to Functional Skills English and Maths or GCSE programmes.
