Sandwell College hosted BBC One’s flagship political debate programme Question Time when it returned to West Bromwich last night (April 23).
This was the second time the college had been selected as a venue for the programme, which was shown just two weeks ahead of the General Election.
Presenter David Dimbleby chaired the high profile panel of five, which included Labour Deputy Leader Harriet Harman, Deputy First Minister of Scotland John Swinney, former Leader of the Conservatives William Hague, UKIP Deputy Leader Paul Nuttall and Green Party Leader Natalie Bennett.
The previous screening, almost three years ago in June 2012, saw then justice secretary Ken Clarke; shadow health secretary Andy Burnham; general secretary of Unite, Len McCluskey; economist Ruth Lea; and Midlands businesswoman Julie White, face questions from the audience in the college’s Central Campus theatre.
Sandwell College Principal Graham Pennington said: “We are thrilled to have Question Time back for a second time, and to be raising the national profile of West Bromwich and Sandwell at such an important time in politics.”
