This BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Health and Social Care course is an introduction to health and social care for school leavers and we will help you develop study skills which you can use in your future education.
You’ll need GCSE Maths and English at Grade 2 or Functional Skills Maths and English at Entry Level 3.
This BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Health and Social Care course involves studying a range of units such as healthy eating, communication, and research skills in a very practical way. You will complete a week-long work placement as part of a group, in a local health and social care setting, which we will arrange for you. The course also includes additional qualifications in dermatitis, social media and online safety.
We are dedicated to enriching your experience here at Sandwell College with a range of opportunities. We have strong links with local employers including hospitals and local authorities, who frequently visit the college to provide learners with a unique insight into careers in the sector. We also visit settings with learners to give them a first-hand experience of life working in health and social care. We take learners to The Care Show at Birmingham NEC every year as well as numerous university events.
The BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Health and Social Care course will be assessed solely by coursework.
Once you have successfully achieved the BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Health and Social Care qualification you can advance to the Level 2 qualification or go into employment.
