She said: “My career goal is to become a PE teacher and my tutors have been guiding me to pursue my ambition and provided me with advice on how to progress to HE after completing this course. I am hoping to continue by doing a BA in Sports Science and then a PGCE. I want to excel in all that I do and be a role model to my peers.

“Sport is still a male dominated profession and I want to prove to my colleagues and the wider public that women can be successful sports professionals and proud of it. Over the last year I’ve achieved two amazing things that are hugely important to me: I was a part of the college’s Volleyball team and was subsequently selected to compete in the UK Colleges Cup. I was ecstatic to have been picked as I had prepared so hard for the selection process. We got to the quarter finals and were defeated by Manchester, whose squad was a full under 18 squad. It was an amazing experience for me and the team to have got that far and we will be returning in the new year and hopefully achieve an even higher position.”
“My other achievement was being chosen to perform in The Commonwealth Games Handover Ceremony in Birmingham. I had to audition together with over 1000 dancers and sports people at Edgbaston cricket ground and was incredibly proud to have been selected to take part in the ceremony. A huge opportunity of a lifetime!”
Congratulations Fay!
