What are T Levels?
T Levels are two-year technical qualifications developed with employers to ensure students gain the skills and knowledge needed for their chosen industry. They are equivalent to three A Levels and combine classroom learning with practical experience, preparing students for skilled employment, apprenticeships, or further study.

Who is this course for?
This T Level is designed for learners aged 16-19 who wish to work in the digital services industry, specifically in Media, Broadcast & Production.

Course Structure:

  • 80% Classroom Learning – Students study 14 core topic areas relevant to the Media, Broadcast & Production industry.

  • 20% Industry Placement – A minimum of 45 days on placement with an employer to gain on-the-job technical skills.

During the two-year programme, you will learn the core knowledge that underpins the Media, Broadcast & Production industry and develop skills that will allow you to enter skilled employment within the occupation.

English, Maths and Digital Skills are integrated within the course to ensure you leave college with the relevant skills needed to succeed and progress in your career.

  • You will be 16-19 years old with 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above (or equivalent Level 2 Technical qualification)
  • You’ll need a minimum of Grade 4 in English and Maths GCSEs

Employer-Set Project

You will complete a creative industry project brief, culminating in a substantial piece of work, in which you will develop, apply and demonstrate the following skills:

  • Undertaking research
  • Generating ideas
  • Communicating ideas
  • Developing ideas
  • Working collaboratively with others
  • Reflective practice

Creative and Design: Core Skills, Workplace Practices & Occupational Specialism

As part of the Media, Broadcast and Production T Level qualification, you will specialise in Content Creation Production, where you will develop technical, practical and vocational skills, training to become competent and confident within your chosen occupation.

Performance Outcomes:

1. Generate ideas for content development for different platforms
2. Plan the production of the required content for different platforms (including moving/still image, audio and written)
3. Create and deliver the required content for the chosen platforms and/or venues, co-ordinating with others where appropriate
4. Evaluate the extent to which the content and plan meet objectives taking on board feedback

Extended Work Placement

You will apply practical skills within real-world employment settings by completing a minimum of 315 hours (45 days) extended work placement with an employer. Content Creation Production specialists will complete an extended work placement at a business or organisation in a relevant role to their preferred occupation:

  • Core skills will be assessed through the completion of an employer-set project
  • Further core skills and workplace practices will be assessed through the completion of extended work placement and occupational specialism assignments

The Media, Broadcast & Production T Level is equivalent to 3 A Levels, and will qualify you to progress onto:
