A Vehicle Damage Panel Technician works within the accident repair workshop, demonstrating expert working knowledge in relation to the removal, repair and replacement of vehicle body panels to vehicle manufacturer specification. These vehicles can include light commercial vehicles and cars. The technician may work in a team and also individually to identify body panel types and use the right tools to repair the vehicle to the highest standard.

The minimum entry requirements for this Level 3 Vehicle Damage Panel Technician Apprenticeship are as follows:

  • English GCSE Grade 4/C, Level 2 Functional Skills (or equivalent)
  • Mathematics GCSE Grade 4/C, Level 2 Functional Skills (or equivalent)
  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • You must attend a formal interview

As part of this Level 3 Vehicle Damage Panel Technician Apprenticeship, you will study and demonstrate the below:

  • Health and safety
  • Materials and consumables
  • Removing and fitting non-structural body panels
  • Removing and replacing structural body panels
  • Repair techniques and processes
  • Tools and equipment
  • Vehicle body alignment
  • Welding techniques and processes

On successful completion of the Level 3 Vehicle Damage Panel Technician Apprenticeship, you may progress onto the following:

  • Progress to a Level 4 course

  • Progress your career in the automotive industry
