This course is for adult learners who wish to pursue a career in Public Sector Services and Policing. The course will prepare learners for higher education study. The course includes a combination of subject areas ranging from Criminology and Law to Media and Politics.
Students are required to have achieved at least Level 2/Grade C in English and at least Level 1/Grade D in Maths.
The course boasts a large combination of a variety of different modules which are associated with the Public Sector Services and Policing.
Modules will include:

– Understanding Crime and Deviance
– Access to Justice
– Criminology and Law
– Media Representation of Social Groups
– News in TV and Print in Britain
– Constitutions and Elections
– Political Representation
– Dynamics of Government
– Combating Prejudice and Discrimination
– Multi-Culturalism in Modern Britain
– Social Welfare in the UK
– The Origins of the Welfare State
Students will also participate in a variety of study skills associated modules including:
– Progression to Higher Education
– English Language Skills
– Speaking and Listening
– Technical Skills for Writing
– Writing for Different Purposes
Students will be working alongside highly experienced staff who have a range of public sector services backgrounds as well as extensive higher education experience.
Students will be supported in their career aspirations and they will be provided with the opportunity to build upon their employability skills including: communication, self-sufficiency as well as English language skills.
Assessment will be a combination of internal assessments including: reports, speeches and presentations.
