On this Level 3 Teaching Assistant Standard Apprenticeship you can:

We offer a structured training programme for those in employment who want to learn and we work with employers to recruit apprentices seeking an apprenticeship placement.

If you don’t think you have the necessary ‘work-ready skills’, we also offer Traineeships. This course provides the essential work preparation training, English, Maths and work experience needed to secure your Apprenticeship place.

The minimum entry requirements for this Level 3 Teaching Assistant Standard Apprenticeship are as follows;

  • English GCSE Grade 4/C, Level 2 Functional Skills, or equivalent
  • Mathematics GCSE Grade 4/C, Level 2 Functional Skills, or equivalent
  • Demonstrate a passion for the education sector
  • Be at least 16 years of age

 

This Level 3 Teaching Assistant Standard Apprenticeship involves:

  • Schools and colleges as organisations support health and safety in a learning environment
  • Understand how to safeguard children and young people develop professional relationships with children, young people and adults
  • Understand how children and young people develop
  • Support positive behaviour in children and young people
  • Support children and young people during learning activities
  • Support English and Maths skills
  • Support the use of ICT in the learning environment
  • Support assessment for learning
  • Engage in personal and professional development
  • Support children and young people’s speech, language and communication
  • Understand how to support bilingual learners
  • Understand how to support the learning of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities
  • Support children and young people during transitions
  • Support the role of play, leisure and extra-curricular activities for children and young people

All learners will have a dedicated trainer/assessor who will plan learning and assessments with you in the workplace. The assessment methods used will include the following:

  • Course work
  • Observation and assessment in the workplace
  • Portfolio of evidence
  • Professional discussion
  • Reflective account

A final End Point Assessment will be taken consisting of a practical workplace observation and a professional discussion, on completion of this the Full Standard will be awarded. You will also receive the Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning.

You will receive regular workplace assessments from industry specialists who will assess competency.

You will be required to submit assignments to demonstrate your knowledge in addition to creating a portfolio of evidence.

20% of the training will be delivered off the job and this can include:

  • Online learning or training from employers, shadowing, mentoring, and support in writing assignments.

On successful completion of this Level 3 Teaching Assistant Standard Apprenticeship, you will progress within the workplace or seek Higher Level Teaching Assistant training (HLTA)
