Why do this Course?   The ability to mentor others effectively is a highly sought after workplace skill.  Organisations use mentoring to enhance their employees’ skills and performance by leveraging the knowledge, skills and  expertise of high-performing individuals.    This course is designed for current or future mentors, aiming to help them develop their mentoring abilities. During the course, participants will learn about; mentoring principles, the connection between mentoring and coaching and how management and leadership concepts can support mentoring practice.  Ultimately, the course equips learners with the ability to provide empowering mentoring interventions, that enable  their mentees to reach their full potential and work towards meaningful goals in their roles.  

How much does the course cost?

The total fee for this course (including registration and certification) is £300. HOWEVER, if you live within ‘West Midlands Combined Authority’ region, you may be eligible to a FREE place on this course subject to certain terms and conditions.  

Course requirements

You must have gained a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above including English or equivalent qualifications.  Ideally, you will also have a CMI Level 3 Diploma or similar qualifications at level 3.  HOWEVER,  if you are a mature applicant (over 21 years) your  work experience (paid and/or unpaid) may be  taken into account in lieu of formal qualifications.

What does the Course Involve?

 

You will study one unit:-

 

  • Professional Mentoring Practice

 

Whilst on the course, you will be given FREE professional membership of the CMI, which includes access to a range of CMI products and services to support you throughout the qualification and later as you progress in their career.

 

When does the course start and end?

Start Date: Tuesday 9th April 2024

End Date:  Tuesday 18th June 2024

The unit is assessed via a written assignment of approximately 4,000 words.  There is also an additional practical assessment of mentoring skills.

Progression opportunities include completing the CMI Level 5 Certificate in Professional Mentoring Practice, CMI Level 5 Certificate/Diploma in Professional Coaching Practice and/or the CMI Level 7 Leadership Coaching and Mentoring.
