This Level 2 Certificate in Barbering is an assessment-based qualification for learners of all ages, who wish to pursue a career in barbering. School leavers can study this in addition to their full-time course.
You will need to have GCSE Grade 3 or above in English and Maths, or ESOL at Level 1 or equivalent.
The Level 2 Certificate in Barbering course teaches a range of barbering skills including following health and safety practices in the salon, client consultation for hair services, cutting facial hair and cutting men’s hair.
There are a range of in-house and external competitions you could enter.
Practical elements of the Level 2 Certificate in Barbering course will be assessed in our state-of-the-art salons, and you'll be required to produce a portfolio of your work throughout the course.
There are four exams which are externally marked, and all practical work will be logged in your VTCT assessment book.
You can progress on a hairdressing or beauty pathway and study for a Level 2 diploma in hairdressing, beauty therapy or nails. You could also develop your skills by studying other short courses. Once qualified you will be able to start work as a barber.
