This Level 3 Certificate in Coding Practices qualification is designed for learners who want to increase their knowledge, skills and understanding of coding. Successful completion of the required units will allow the learner to develop in-depth knowledge, skills and understanding of coding practices. It will also support progression into relevant employment and further study in coding.   This qualification aims to:

Cost of the course:

FREE for anyone aged over 19 who does NOT yet have a full Level 3 qualification (equivalent to an advanced technical certificate or diploma or A-Levels) or higher and who lives in a WMCA postcode area. The course runs Tuesdays-Wednesdays 5.30-8.30PM at Sandwell College.

Course requirements

There is no specific prior knowledge a learner must have for this Level 3 Certificate in Coding Practices qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 2 digital skills or information technology-related qualification, and a Level 2 mathematics qualification.

This Level 3 Certificate in Coding Practices involves the following units:

  • Coding requirements and planning
  • Understand coding design
  • Implementation of coding
  • Software testing
  • Understand deployment, maintenance and configuration management

 

Duration of the course:

Tue & Wed 5.30-7.30PM

Internally assessed and externally quality-assured portfolio of evidence.

This Level 3 Certificate in Coding Practices qualification aims to provide learners with a number of progression options, including higher-level studies at university or FE colleges.

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:

  • Level 4 Certificate in IT
  • Level 4 Diploma in Software Development
  • Software Development Technician Apprenticeship
