This Level 3 Programming & Creative Computing course is designed to give you an introduction to a range of IT units from programming and website production to mobile app development, to enhance your higher education progression and employment potential. The course brings together knowledge and understanding with practical and technical skills.
You'll need five GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above, including English and Maths, or an equivalent Level 2 qualification (minimum Merit).
The first year of the course consists of 4 mandatory and 2 optional units. Units 1 and 2 are exam based. This enables you to then progress to the second year Extended Diploma programme.
Units are assessed using a grading scale of Distinction, Merit, Pass, and Near Pass.
Year 1 Units:
Computing students get involved in a range of varied activities as part of their course, from organising gameathons to creating and editing their own magazine. The course offers trips to Disneyland Paris, residential trips to London as well as amusement parks.
Successful learners are also recognised for their hard work at a special departmental award ceremony at the end of the year. There may be opportunities to work with employers to develop software for them.

This Level 3 Programming & Creative Computing qualification provides you with the opportunity to progress to the second year Extended Diploma programme, and then move on to an HNC, HND and a full time BSc or BA undergraduate programme.
You could then progress to entry-level employment, vocational apprenticeships and trainee junior roles in a variety of Computing fields, for example:
