Course summary

This BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Public Services is a one-year course for school leavers wishing to pursue a career in one of the uniformed public services, such as:

Course requirements

You’ll need GCSE English and Maths at Grade 1 or Functional Skills English and Maths at Entry Level 3. You also need to show enthusiasm for the course and be motivated to take part in activities.

This BTEC Introductory Diploma in Public Services Level 1 course involves studying the following units:

  • Taking Part in Fitness
  • Finding out about Public Services
  • Planning and Navigating a Route
  • Taking part in Sport and Adventurous Activities

This Level 1 BTEC Public Services Diploma includes a variety of enrichment activities. Examples of guest speakers and activities include:

· Guest Speakers

· Volunteering

· Adventure Activities including raft building, high ropes, rock climbing

You will go on at least one residential, where you will be assessed in practical and vocational settings. Throughout the BTEC Level 1 Public Services Diploma, you will work alongside a range of public service professionals who support teaching, learning and assessment.

On successful completion of this BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Public Services qualification you can go on to study the Level 2 Extended Certificate in Public Services. Alternatively, you could apply to join the uniformed public services.
