The Level 3 Diploma in Engineering is a vocational qualification designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed for a career in the engineering sector. This diploma is equivalent to three A-levels and provides a comprehensive understanding of various engineering disciplines.

Prospective students are generally required to have:

· Level 2 Certificate or Diploma in Engineering, or equivalent

· Four GCSEs, including Maths (Higher) and English at Grade 4/C or above, plus two other relevant subjects at Grade 3 or above.

This diploma combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, covering:

Core Units:

· Engineering principles

· Health and safety in engineering

· Engineering mathematics

· Engineering project management

Specialist Units:

· Mechanical engineering

· Electrical and electronic engineering

· Manufacturing processes

· Computer-aided design (CAD)

Assessment is conducted through a combination of:

· Written Assignments

· Written examinations

· Practical projects

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The course often includes enrichment activities such as:

· A minimum of 30 hours of work experience

· Guest speakers from the industry

· Visits to local companies and engineering exhibitions

These experiences aim to enhance students’ understanding of the engineering sector and provide valuable industry insights.

The T Level in Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing, and Control is a two-year technical qualification designed for students aged 16-19 who have completed their GCSEs. Equivalent to three A Levels, this program combines classroom learning with practical experience to prepare you for a career in the engineering and manufacturing sectors.

Mandatory core units Engineering Health & Safety and Engineering Principles are assessed by a City & Guilds online multiple-choice assessment.

Principles of Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering units are assessed by a short-answer question paper set by City & Guilds.

All other units are assessed by City & Guilds approved practical assignments and knowledge-based tasks.

Upon successful completion, students can progress to:

· Advance to Higher Education: Enrol in engineering degree programmes at universities.

· Start an Apprenticeship: Enter advanced apprenticeships in specialised engineering fields.

· Enter the Workforce: Employment in roles like electrical technician, design engineer, or similar positions
