This course is suitable for school leavers wanting a career in digital infrastructure and support.

Course requirements

You should have 6 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including Maths and English.

Occupational specialism (Year 2)

Topics include:
• Digital security of an organisation and its data
• Advice for security risk assessment
• Reliable sources of knowledge

Industrial placement
• 315 hours of industrial placement
- Taster sessions delivered by employers
- A group project set by the employer
- Hands-on industry experience at an employer’s company

Activities are linked to employers, such as site visits. You will also benefit from a work readiness programme to develop your essential skills.

Career options might include becoming an infrastructure technician or a role in IT support. Students can progress into roles such as Access Control Administrator, Cyber Security Administrator, Incident Response Technician, Junior Information Security Analyst, Junior Penetration Tester, Junior Security Analyst, Junior Security Operations Centre Analyst, Junior Threat and Risk Analyst, Centre Analyst, Cyber Operations Manager, Cyber Risk Analyst/Manager, Intelligence Researcher, Security Analyst, Security Architect, Cyber Research Analyst, Cyber Incident Manager, Cyber Security Engineer and Cyber Security Design Engineer.

Students can also use this T Level to progress to a related higher-level apprenticeship such as Cyber Security Technologist and Network Engineer, or course of study at a higher level. Degree options may include: Computer Science, Computer Programming, Database Management, Cyber Security Management, Cyber Security and Information Security.
