About T Levels

T LEVELS – COURSE OVERVIEW

A T Level is a two-year course, which has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses to ensure that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares students for employment within the chosen area of occupational specialism.

T LEVELS – COURSE TOPICS

  • Knowledge of 14 core topic areas
  • An industry placement with an employer, for a minimum of 45 days

T LEVELS – COURSE FEATURES

  • Around 80% of the time will be spent in the classroom, while the remaining 20% will be spent in an industry placement
  • College attendance is 2-3 days weekly

T LEVELS – ASSESSMENT

  • Work placement for 315 hours
  • Technical qualification 80% (external assessment 2 core exams and ESP set by Pearson Edexcel)

WHERE COURSES BECOME CAREERS

  • Students who complete a T Level Technical Qualification can choose between moving into a skilled occupation or further study; for example, a higher or degree level Apprenticeship, or higher-level technical study, including higher education.

ABOUT YOU

  • Minimum grade 4 in Maths and English plus an interview by a prospective employer for industry placement.

INDUSTRY PLACEMENT

  • Industry placement is a mandatory part of the T Level qualification
  • You are expected to gain substantial technical skill training
  • You will spend a minimum of 315 hours in the workplace with an external employer
  • The placement will be specific and in line with your occupational specialism
  • A single placement of 315 hours can be split across two employers
  • Day release (1 day a week)
  • A block of 9 weeks

A mixture of any of these models, depending on what works for the College, you and your employer
