It’s time to apply yourself and be ready for your future!

Applying for a place at Sandwell College means you’ll be joining the largest provider of education programmes for young people in the West Midlands, guiding you towards real-world professional success.

At Sandwell students are focused on their career progress and positive about their futures. Benefitting from a calm and supportive environment, guided by enthusiastic, knowledgeable and committed staff, learners are proud to be part of their college community. The vast majority of learners go on to study at a higher level, including at university, and almost all

apprentices are given a job at the end of their apprenticeship.

So wherever your career ambitions lead – product designer, mechanic, games developer, aerospace engineer, hair stylist, midwife, photographer, TV producer, police officer, fitness instructor or tour operator – we can help you move on to higher-level studies or into employment at the end of your course. We make sure what you learn during your time at college reflects current industry practices, and the good links we have established with hundreds of different employers provide opportunities for you to participate in work placements.

High-quality careers guidance, trade shows, competitions, taster days, university open days, industry days and professional or inspirational speaker sessions will help you make well-informed decisions on your next steps.

Teaching teams have good, up-to-date subject knowledge and continuously analyse which employment skills are needed now and in the future, plus any changes in patterns for the local area and the region, to plan the courses that they offer. This helps ensure that you study the specific skills and knowledge needed in our local area. One major example of this is Sandwell College’s partnership work with Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, Aston University, the University of Wolverhampton and Sandwell Council to develop the Midland Metropolitan Learning Campus that will create healthcare training opportunities for local people from entry level through to level 7.

To develop your confidence during your studies, plenty of group work and presentations will help you to grow in assurance when working and communicating with others. Mock interview practice will also make you better prepared when applying for jobs or university places. Our teachers have high ambitions for their learners, including those with high needs, and provide them with challenging, interesting lessons and coaching sessions.

A positive and respectful culture celebrating diversity means learners feel supported and included. Many students work as ambassadors, representatives, and mental health champions within the college and local community. You can also expand your interests with everything from sports, debating and gender-specific groups to medical societies.
