Congratulations to Jomisse Wuka who has just been awarded a Distinction in her Dental Nursing Apprenticeship! Now a qualified dental nurse at Level 3, the path to success has not always been easy, especially during lockdown, which makes Jomisse’s achievement even more amazing. This is her story:
“I am originally from Congo and came to live in England at the age of 10. As English is not my first language, I found the transition difficult, however managed to achieve my GCSEs when I left school. I was interested in pursuing a career in the health and social care industry as I enjoy working with people and had tried a few different roles within the sector when the opportunity of a Dental Apprenticeship came up with Sandwell College and Bhandal Dental Practice in Coventry. I have studied on my apprenticeship with the help of my assessor Christy for the last two years and have achieved a Distinction in my end point assessment. Undertaking this apprenticeship has been such a rewarding experience because I’ve managed to gain the experience needed to step into the real world full of opportunities by studying and also working full time and earning. Lots of hard work and effort was required for this to be attained, hence why I am grateful to have Christy as a tutor because she was a source of encouragement to me in particular, motivated me to reach my full potential and perform to the best of my ability. I am forever grateful for her hard work and the support she has shown throughout this journey.”
