Welfare Officer Connor with award winner Kyle

Double Celebration Alert! We’re thrilled to announce that both Kyle Price and Nafeesah Khan have won at the FIYA Awards 2024, hosted by Sandwell Children’s Trust.

Sandwell College Sport student Kyle, recognised as a Positive Role Model, shared that he was “nervous and excited” about his award, but couldn’t be happier. His commitment to setting a great example truly shines, and we couldn’t be prouder of his achievement. Kyle was joined by Connor Wassall, Sandwell College’s Welfare Officer, who nominated him for the award. Connor said: “Kyle has an amazing attitude and truly embodies Sandwell College’s core values of respect, responsibility, and a readiness to learn. Coupled with his strong work ethic, Kyle is a perfect example of a role model student.”

In the Employment Star category, Sandwell College apprentice Nafeesah – nominated by her assessor Emma McTaggart – said she was “beyond happy” to win. Her journey from self-doubt to confidently delivering presentations to hundreds is nothing short of inspiring. Successfully completing her Level 2 Customer Service Apprenticeship with a Distinction grade, she has since moved on to a Level 3 Housing Apprenticeship with Sandwell Council.

Huge congratulations to both Kyle and Nafeesah for embodying resilience, dedication, and excellence. Your achievements light the way for others – keep reaching for the stars!
