Golden girl Gagandeep got an early Christmas gift when she was presented with her Duke of Edinburgh Award!
The former Central Sixth student returned to college to collect her Gold Award from Principal Graham Pennington.
As part of her Duke of Edinburgh activities, she volunteered in a primary school, played badminton, learned to drive and travelled to Cumbria with NCS.
She even canoed in the pouring rain on a bracing outdoor expedition organised for college students by DofE Manager David Hughes, where the hail was so bad she was forced to cling to a rock to keep her balance!
Gagandeep aspires to a career in hospital pharmacy and is now in her second year of a Pharmacy degree at Keele University. She studied A Levels in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and ICT at Central Sixth.
She said: “I thought about giving up on my Duke of Edinburgh Award sometimes but David said ‘just do it!’, and I’m so glad I did. I would definitely recommend the experience to others as it opens you up to trying different things. You see what you wouldn’t normally see.”
Gagandeep will be presented with her award at Buckingham Palace next year.
