Alice and Alix from the National Citizen Service visited students at Central Sixth yesterday and today. They’ll also be back again on Thursday. The NCS team run a fantastic summer programme which a fantastic way for any young person to get themselves set up for their first interview.
The NCS is a youth movement in the UK which is backed by the Government. The programme for the summer is made up of three stages.
Stage 1 consists of an adventure event where participants spend a week away from home doing some adrenaline-fuelled activities like rock climbing, canoeing and archery.
Stage 2 is a week of discovery where participants get to learn some essential life skills from local business leaders and charities. The participants gain confidence in public speaking, communications skills and budgeting. It all looks great on their CV no matter where they go in life.
Stage 3 is a week of Social Action back at home. The participants will team up and devise a community project based on an issue they feel passionate about. At this stage they’ll have the skills and confidence to do anything – the more original, the better!
The £1500 course is pretty much fully funded by the Government which covers food, lodging and materials . Participants simply need to pay £30 as long as they sign up soon which is an absolute steal! For more information check out the NCS website: http://www.ncsyes.co.uk
