Sandwell College has been recognised in the shortlist for the 2021 Tes FE Awards, which celebrates the most outstanding individuals and institutions in the further education sector.
The prestigious awards gives further education providers a chance to recognise the accomplishments of their teachers, staff and teams, highlighting the positive difference quality education can make to young people’s lives.
Sandwell College has been shortlisted for the ‘Support for Learners’ award.
The ‘Support for Learners’ category celebrates institutions which help students gain the maximum benefit from their time with their learning provider.
Graham Pennington, Principal of Sandwell College, comments: “We’re delighted to be shortlisted for this award and to recognise the fantastic efforts of our support staff and teachers. We are dedicated to providing the best possible learning environment for every student and adult learner – offering support, guidance and encouragement at every step of their journey with us, so they are equipped with the skills they need to fulfil their potential.
“In what has been an incredibly difficult year, I’m immensely proud of how colleagues and students have supported each other during such a challenging period. The mental and physical wellbeing of our students is a priority at Sandwell College and we have implemented a range of services and care packages designed to provide additional support and advice for anyone in need.”
Tes head of FE Julia Belgutay said: “Further education providers have excelled in what has been a truly challenging year, and the amazing individuals, teams and institutions on our Tes FE Awards shortlist showcase that. Our judges were highly impressed with the calibre of entries and I want to congratulate everyone who has made the shortlist – it is a brilliant achievement.”
This year’s Tes FE awards ceremony will be hosted virtually and winners will be announced on Friday 28 May 2021.
