Sandwell College’s T Level Engineering students got an exciting glimpse into potential career paths and real-world applications of their studies on an engaging site visit.
SES Engineering Services (SES), who delivered a £13 million package for Sandwell Aquatics Centre including cabling and heating installation, gave the learners a remarkable opportunity to visit their state-of-the-art facilities, providing an invaluable experience for these aspiring young engineers.
The students were given a full tour of the facilities and an inside look at the cutting-edge technology and industry practices employed by SES, who work closely with Sandwell College, providing work placements, mentoring and encouraging careers in construction and mechanical & electrical engineering.
This hands-on experience undoubtedly broadened the students’ understanding of their field and exposed them to the exciting possibilities that await them in their future careers.
A Q&A session with site managers was the highlight of the visit, serving as a platform for the students to interact directly with industry professionals, gain insights and seek advice on their career aspirations.
Learners were then offered the career-defining chance to apply for full-time positions within the company.
Assistant Principal, Nisha Anhu, said: “The collaboration between Sandwell College and SES Ltd showcases the importance of industry and education partnerships in providing students with real-world experiences and opening doors to exciting career opportunities. The site visit not only served as a source of inspiration for the students but also as a catalyst for their professional growth and development.”
