The curtain rose to laughter and applause on the opening night of The Addams Family at Sandwell College, as students delivered a wonderfully weird and wickedly funny performance of the Young@Part Edition of the Broadway hit.
From the moment the audience stepped into the world of the delightfully macabre Addams clan, it was clear this was no ordinary production. With its clever humour, catchy tunes, and eccentric characters, the show offered a comical feast.
The story unfolds on a fateful night when Wednesday Addams invites her “normal” boyfriend and his parents to dinner, sending the Addams household into delightful disarray. With secrets, surprises, and a tango or two, chaos (and comedy) ensues, especially when Gomez finds himself doing the unthinkable: keeping a secret from Morticia.
Originally produced on Broadway in New York City, this Young@Part Edition was adapted especially for young performers, and our students rose to the occasion with professionalism, passion, and personality in every scene.
