Open days at Sandwell College are a fantastic opportunity to explore your options, experience the campus, and get a real feel for what it’s like to be part of our college community. Open days can provide insights and help you make informed decisions about your college and course choice. To make the most of your visit, here are some tips:
- Plan ahead and prioritise your interests
Before you arrive, browse our website and make a list of any specific courses or areas of interest. This will help when you arrive to have an idea of where and who you want to speak with. Don’t worry if you’re not sure though and just want to speak to as many subjects as possible!
- Talk to staff about your career goals
One of the biggest benefits of an open day is the chance to chat with staff members. They’re there to answer any questions you have, provide guidance and help you understand what courses are on offer. Share with the staff your career goals and aspirations as it will help them give tailored advice on how Sandwell College can support you.
- Visit our student services village
We know that College can be a big step so we have a wide range of student support services to help you succeed. Take the time to talk to our learning support and student support teams to get an understanding of how they can assist you throughout your studies. From academic support to mental health resources, knowing what’s available can help put you at ease. Plus, don’t forget to ask about our free bus pass which we give to every 16-18 student which can be used 365 days a year.
- Explore the facilities
Open Days are a great chance to see the facilities on offer. Take time to visit your department area, the library, and any other facilities relevant to your subject. Exploring these will give you a feel for the environment you’ll be learning in when you start in September!
- Get your application in
We have application stations ready for students to apply on the day – not only will this mean you get your application out the way so you can focus on your GCSEs this year, but also our admissions team will be there to help with any queries you have. Once you’ve applied, you’ll also be invited to our taster days throughout the year!
