Three adult students at awards dinner table

Beauty therapy student Gurjeet Kaur nailed the WorldSkills UK final with a bronze medal.

Gurjeet battled it out in the Open Nail Services competition – an open, freestyle competition allowing all competitors to work to their individual strengths.

She was given just three hours to complete a salon commercial nail art design using gel polish, glitters, foiling, charms or rhinestones.

This is the third year running that beauty students from Sandwell College have brought home bronze medals in the WorldSkills final.

Gurjeet was joined by Courtney Hipkins, who was highly commended in the Advanced Nail Art category of the national final, and Sandeep Toor, who also competed in the Advanced Nail Enhancements category of the national final after being selected from the regional winners.

Gurjeet and Courtney both won bronze medals in the regional live heats for their fantastic nail art creations in July.

The trainee nail artists were among the top candidates achieving the highest marks of all the heats.
