Additional Learning Support
Hub Extra is located in the 3rd floor Hub and is managed by the Additional Learning Support Team.
The Additional Learning Support team provides support for students with Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans. The team offers support to students in developing their reading, writing and Maths skills on their education programme. This includes:
- in-class support
- 1:1 drop-in service and weekly 1:1 sessions
- small group work
- Support with English & Maths
- Support with structuring and organising assignments and coursework
- dyslexia support and access to specialist software
The team can also, where available, support students with a range of needs, including:
- those who are on the autistic spectrum
- those who have physical and sensory impairments
- mental health difficulties
- medical conditions
- dyslexia
- dyscalculia
- emotional and behavioural difficulties.
In this way, all students have the opportunity to achieve, regardless of ability or circumstances.

Our Learning Support Coordinators can arrange 1:1 support sessions with one of our Learning Support Assistants as well as support for students in class.
Our Special Exams Arrangements Officer can apply for exam arrangements and liaise with exam boards. For more information call 0121 667 5371.
Our Additional Needs Advisor can offer a confidential talk with someone who understands your needs, carry out an assessment of your needs suggesting ways to help you, and carry out an assessment for exam arrangements and support. For more information call 0121 667 5355.
Our Dyslexia Coordinator can offer an initial interview, carry out a dyslexia screening assessment, carry out a full dyslexia assessment suggesting ways to help you, and carry out an assessment for exam arrangements and support. For more information call 0121 667 5371.

Advice & Guidance
Our award-winning Student Services Team will be available throughout your stay at the College to offer practical, impartial information on education, training and career opportunities. As soon as you arrive at College you will be able to get the help you need to succeed. The team is available to advise you on:

• Homelessness
• Childcare
• Student rights
• Staying safe.

Togetherall – 24-hour online counsellors and community support available. Create an account with your college email address to use this service for free at www.togetherall.com
Kaleidoscope – text “TeamKPG” to 85258. This is a text service where you can text a counsellor for up to 60 minutes for free. They can contact blue light services such as an ambulance if required.
Samaritans – mental health support helpline. Ring 116 123 for free – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our professional Careers Advisers offer the following services:
• Applying for university
• Choosing a career
• Writing CVs and preparing interviews.
Connexions Advisers and Adult Careers Advisers from Next Steps are also based in the College.
Multi-Faith Chaplaincy
Our Multi-Faith Chaplaincy team is made up of people who are committed to their own faiths but also recognise and support all other faith groups and non faith groups. Quiet and Contemplation rooms are provided for reflection or prayer.
